My name is Dr Julia Heath and I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
I offer Psychological Therapy in a supportive and collaborative environment. I believe that everyone has the ability to change their lives to become more positive and fulfilling, and I will work with you to make this change happen.
Talking Therapy can help make change happen, as it aids the process of reflection and thinking about concerns from different perspectives. Often we can feel stuck and think that change is not possible, but the process of therapy allows this view to be challenged and so new directions can be found.
One to One Psychology and CBT is helpful for a wide range of difficulties.
Psychological tools and adjustment for living with long-term health conditions.
EMDR Therapy stands for Eye Movement and Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy.
For qualified practitioners and Psychologists or CBT Therapists in training.
My Specialism is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is an approach that focuses on identifying the thoughts (cognitions) we have about our situation, and our typical ways of reacting (behaviour) and then bringing in alternatives. It is scientifically evidenced based treatment and it is effective for a range of presenting concerns. Please see the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for further details. I also incorporate ‘third wave’ CBT into my work including Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
CBT is not an approach that works for everyone, and I have also trained in Person-Centred counselling and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and so my approach can be integrative.
I have been working as a psychologist since 2005, and have worked in a variety of NHS services including primary care services and tertiary psychotherapy services. I am currently working in the NHS with people who have Persistent Pain.
I am based in Alton which is easily accessible from the following locations:
